This is a very inspirational article about peace. This one man who was inspired by Gandhi when he was younger has grown up and continued Gandhi's dream for peace. He has helped so many and will continue to help many more with his twenty school branches. He is giving the children a future and is teaching them the good that peace brings. Also he is teaching that peace can happen with anyone, we are all united under God and that should be enough to give us peace. If different religions are capable of putting their differents aside to help on another in India why can't we do the same everywhere else in the world.

This article shows how determined one man is at achieving peace. Gandhi was a man who was very inspirational toward many people, especially one person in particular who took his name and continued his works. Gandhi set up a school with his wife and started off teaching five students. This number grew and he later had a whole school. He taught these kids all about peace in our world. They also helped him with his works such as carrying banners through the streets that read "God is One." Gandhi stated that we are all equal under God so we should treat others with respect. We have enough atomic bombs to destroy the earth multiple times. Is this a way to acheive peace? Everyone should know that answer.

I found this article to be really inspiring. I love that they have a whole school to promote peace. I think that that is what the world needs most right now. We have enough mathmeticians and scientists who make discoveries everyday that make us question our humanity, what we really need in this world is peace. The lessons being taught in that school are some of the most important lessons that those children could ever learn. I would be thrilled if our culture did as well of a job as they are doing on promoting issues such as that. My question is why are we not are centered on promoting peace and unity, as they are over in India and how could we go about promoting peace and unity better in our school and surrounding environment?

It is remarkable how one person can start something so big that affects a whole group of people. Gandhi is so inspirational because he puts forth all his time and effort to teach his students about peace and war. He says that its important to teach them while they're young. This is true because this is when the learning process becomes instilled in our brains. We watch, learn, and act from other peoples actions. It was nice to read that Gandhi and his students came together with students from other countries and worked together. The time and effort these kids put into learning about peace is proof that any one can do it. These students learn that everyone is different and we all have our own beliefs. But it was nice to read that Gandhi teaches his students about how to change the world.

I was so inspired by this article. Gandhi is really making a difference in the world and I really look up to that. Everyone when they are a child says they want to change the world, he actually followed that dream. He is achieving this dream by teaching children about the Lord and how we are all equal. He realizes that children are our future and he gives them the ability to grow to better people through his school. Gandhi also realizes that it is very hard to get to adults and that is so true by everything happening in the world today between people, especially people of different religions. Gandhi is correct, religious racism is one the biggest problems we face in the world today.

Jagdish Gandhi is truely a man with the true message of God in his heart, the message to love one another. More importantly, he teaches his students to use that love and change the world. Gandhi is a teacher at the City Montessori School in India, which has more than 32,000 pupils and is continueously growing in size. Inside the school, he teaches his students valuable lessons, most importantly telling his students that "we are all equal in the eyes of God" and because of this it should be our job to promote peace in our societies and world. These are the fundimential lessons of our faith, and lessons that we should continue to remember as followers of Christ. Jagdish Gandhi's goal is to teach his students virtures oif peace, love, and wisdom, and this is exactly what he is achieving. This article was truely inspirational and I think that all schools show follow the positive examples that this wonderful school is setting. We all have lessons and virtues to gain throughout our faith, and learning them will help us to become strong in our faith and put Christ's words into action.

I firmly belive that the only way to fix the problems of the future is to teach the children of the world to love one another. Children, our generation and future ones, are what is coming into the world. If the minds of these children are filled with beliefs of peace and love, then the world is in for a rejuvination. (As corny as that sounds, it's reality.) Racism, discrimination, and prejudice all start in the home; this is what makes Jagdish Gandhi's work so valuable. He is teaching kids, at a young age, to love and be accepting of others, even those who are different than oneself. The world needs help. I believe that one step at a time change can happen, and for that, I am grateful for all people like Ghandi who are trying to help the youth, so we can save the world.

I think what Jagdish Ghandi is doing for the children of Lucknow is very important. He's establishing schools in a part of the world where people are thriving for education and Ghandi is definitely helping out India with his inspirational teachings. I think its really good that he emphasizes that you should be faithful to your own religion but should respect other religions as well. I think public schools throughout the United States should adapt to this as well. I think its sad public school students are not free to pray and worship if they wish to do so at school. The importance of equality seems to be stressed throughout these schools in India and I think thats a really important part of a childs upbringing. Teaching kids non racist characteristics and qualities will help them throughout their entire life be accepting to people that show differences from themselves. My question is how can we be accepting of other religions that contradict what we our religion teaches?

i think this article shows what one person can do if they try. This man was so inspired by Ghandi that he actually altered his own name to be like Ghandi. He admired Ghandi's effort in preaching peace. With the schools that Jagdish has taught at, peace is a common thread. He is a Hindu but he preaches religious toleration and equal treatment. This is very inspiring and people in America should take on similar views. By waging peace we can end a war.
ReplyDeleteShannon S. C
Jagdish Gandhi has proved the power of God's love in our world. His peace has overcome hate and violence in his town and country of Lucknow, India. Gandhi has educated the young and the old of how to live a life of peace and care for others. He has taught his students to respect all life, to visit the sick and elderly, and to prevent violence among one another. The influence he has had on his students has expanded into his country such as when Muslims attacked the city of Ayodha. Gandhi asked the two leaders involved and prevented future violence, therefore spreading education and peace of moral ways of living. The fact that our world could be destroyed 1,000 times with the number of atomic bombs we have is scary, but the fact that we have people in our world such as Jagdish Gandhi gives hope to many that God is there.
ReplyDeleteHow did Jagdish get started on his mission to set an example of peace for others and to educate? Was he simply inspired by Gandhi or did he have a sign/calling from God to promote peace?

I think it's amazing, what Ghandi is doing. He is bringing something fresh and something new into the minds of the youth in India. He's showing them that peace is possible. That we can all be in the same place, no matter what race or gender, and be treated equally. I think it's incredible how he's completly changing the schools, as well as the students. All the students interviewed for this article had nothing but good things to say about him, saying that he inspires them to be better, to bring peace. It just goes to show that one person truly can make a difference. My question is, what can we do in our highschools to premote peace? How can we spread Ghandi's ideals to our country... or better yet how can we help them as well?

I think it's great that Gandhi can see what many people cannot- religion should not separate us. There is nothing wrong with being Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, etc. We believe in the same God- why should we let small differences come between us? I think it's wonderful that Gandhi is working with children. Because of his work, these children will grow up to have views of kindness rather than hatred of people unlike them. Teaching the children of India to ignore the caste system is great too- there is no reason for them to feel they are inferior, because they are not.

Ghandi seems like a pretty cool guy. I love how he changed his name-it's amazing how determined he was in his mission he even wanted to take up the name of his role model. I really liked how the children were painting pictures of messengers from all religions. I also liked how Ghandi called his school a "lighthouse for society." It's a great way to label it. By teaching these children tolerance and love, he is not only instilling in them kindness and respect that can positively affect their society in the future, but the school is also sending a message to the adults around them: if kids can be tolerant of all people, then so can adults. I love how the kids perform community service as part of school. I know we have service hours, but being forced to experience the different kinds of service and seeing the poor causes a great realization that yes, our world has problems, and yes, I can do something about it. So many people never experience that, and I think it's important. I find his idea of a world government interesting, but I am skeptical to it being brought about and if it would be I don't know how well it would work. I find it difficult to see nations such as the U.S. agreeing to a world government when they have shown resistance to joining global organizations in the past. Maybe one day when these children learning tolerance are in charge and more children are taught that, the nations can coincide in peace together. It's amazing how these children are so accepting, kind, and wise. This article is perfect testament to the fact that our world can change and the best way to do it is by starting out educating people from the start so they never allow hatred or intolerance into their hearts. This article also shows the power a group of individuals can have, like when the violence was prevented from reaching Lucknow because Ghandi called the religious leaders together to protest the violence by marching through the streets. It's incredible what motivated people can accomplish. I wish we could spread Ghandi's ideals to America and other countries around the world. I also want to go visit the school like some other students did. I would love to meet these people. Lastly, I love the quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that." We can all be lights for others.

I was very inspired by this article. I have always been a person who believes that the more knowledge people have the more they can tolerate difference and i believe that ultimately that is how peace will be brought about, tolerance for difference. I think that Jadish is a very noble man. The message of these city montessori schools is that its okay to believe in what you do, as long as you can accept that others may share different beleifs and are in no way lesser of a human being. Along with the traditional circulum I think that the life lessons fo peace and love are very important to be taught. Overall I truly feel that all need to be taught this, these students are the hope for the future. most are in turmoil and dealing with grave issues such as war right in their own neighborhoods and they still hope, which is remarkable. This is a prime example of what i group of people can accomplish if they really are passionate and know that change is necessary.

My favorite part of this article was the concept of Baha'i sect. Tons of the wars that have been fought in the world are based on religious differences. So many people think "our beliefs are right and your beliefs are wrong." I like the idea that Ghandi has going on in this school. Why can't we all be right? It doesn't matter if you pray to Jesus or Muhammad or Shiva. People dedicate their lives to worshiping and following their God (or gods), and that in itself deserves tons of respect. I really like when Ghandi says "Every one of us is equally close to God." This just shows that God created us all with different appearances, religions, languages, and cultures, and he loves us all for our uniqueness. I truly think that if we stop focusing on the differences between world religions, we can start working toward a global respect for one another's beliefs.

ReplyDeleteI was very pleased to read this article and I thought that it was nice to hear of the peace efforts around the world. I think that what Ghandi is teaching in India is a great thing. Educating the younger generations about peace, I think, is what the world should be doing more of because we, the youth of the world, are the future. Ghandi also incorporates into his lessons that everyone is the same no matter race, religion or gender. I also do think that everyone, not only the youth, should practice actions of peace and acceptance because society learns by doing. If the world could learn and act in this manner, I think the world would be an exponentially better place. How can our country incorporate peace into our education system?

It is really neat to hear about Gandhi’s story and to see how passionate he is about helping other people. He not only wants to just teach people how to read and write he wants to someday change the world and it is really interesting how he wants to go above and beyond to make the world more peaceful. He made a really good point when he said that the people building the bombs tell us that the bombs bring us peace, and that human beings must kill each other for peace. I never really thought about that but it makes perfect sense how would killing other people create peace. He also said we are equal under God so why don’t we treat everyone with respect.

Jagdish is a very good person to look up to, his view's of the world are deeper and better than mostly everyone else's. I believe that his message should be heard everywhere. Jagdish spreads his message to a younger crowd and young people are the future of the world, if enough people hear Jagdish's message then the future of the world will be much more peaceful. I believe that this boy not only has a passion to change the world, but also a enormous faith in God and which i believe is essential. Jagdish not only is trying to fulfill Gandhi's mission but i believe that he is doing better because of his ways of trying to fulfill it. I also like how Jagdish shows how education will benefit the world's future and how only one person can make the difference that is needed.

I was very inspired by Jagdish's message. To live in a country so filled with hate and anger and to be able to spread a good message is truly inspiring on his part. By making it his life's mission to teach others about peace is great. I think that the world has a lot to learn from him on that part and that we should all try to act the same in our daily life. He treats everyone as if they are his brothers and sisters, and that is a great way to live. I think that he is doing great to live out Gandhi's dream of peace, and i think he has transformed it into a modern task. My question would be how can other countries of the world try to help in his mission?

This story was very inspirational. It shows how determined one person can be to promote peace. The fact that his school started off with just teaching 5 children and has grown so much shows how dedicated he is. My favorite part about this article was, "If you plan for a year, plant a seed. If you plan for 10 years, plant a tree. If you plan for 100 years, teach a child.” I liked this because it shows the steps they are taking to change the world. Even though he is concerned with teaching children how to read and write, but his teachings are also how they can save the world. I thought that this article was very interesting. First i thought that it was really cool how one man (Mahatma Gandhi) can have such an impact on someone, that they want to change their name! Something that stayed with me throughout this reading was Gandhi said (the little ones) "They are to be faithful to their own religions, but citizens of the world who can tolerate the fact that others are different." I think that everyone should read this article because if everyone was the same this world would be so boring. This article to me is one that describes a want for change. If everyone were like Gandhi our world would be so peaceful and free. But, today its not which really is unfortunate. So many people in this world look differently at things like war and bombs and think its good and keeps peace. But its not at all, it just adds to the fighting and tension. A great thing I think that Gandhi is doing is the fact that he is going around and educating people about peace along with war and such. With the way the world is today we need people like Gandhi. Civilization today doesn't care about anything other than themselves. But, with Gandhi educating we have the chance to hear whats going wrong in the world today and work towards peace. The best thing that our world needs today is peace because without that its chaotic.

It is so nice to see that someone is actually working for peace instead of just talking about achieving world peace. Everyone wants world peace, but rarely does anyone actually do anything to help achieve their goal. We need to first make changes in our own daily lives to promote peace, doing things as simple as respecting each other and accepting our differences. Like Gandhi teaches, we do not have to sacrifice our own beliefs to be tolerant of the beliefs of others. Once we have reformed our lives, we need to teach the world how to live in harmony. We will not get anywhere by just saying that we need world peace; we must be actively involved in the process to achieve our goal.

I really liked this article. This shows how strong determinism can be. i think that Ghandi provides excellent examples. One is to follow what you really believe, have faith, and go after your dream- just as he did. Another is that peace and love is an essential part of life, and no matter how small you may think it is it can make a huge difference and change things for the better. i like the fact that he says everyone is equal and i think it's really great to have schools like that, educating the children about peace. i believe that it could possibly make a difference in the life expectancy and drop the rate of violence.

He brings the idea that we can't bring peace through war. It really makes no sense if you think about it. We are going to kill people for peace? I also agreed with his view on how we are all from the same father, God, so why would we want to kill and harm our brothers and sisters? He brings very simple but good points about peace and love of one another and I do truly look up to him. He truly believes that he can change the world and that is the attitude that more people need. We have to realize that we can make a difference and that even the littlest things can make the world a better place. If we teach them the ways of peace then maybe their generation won’t result to war as much as older generations have. He is teaching these children to be more opened minded and be accepting of other religions. Most wars have some affiliation with religious differences and is the cause of most wars. I feel more optimistic about the future knowing that his school expands every year. I wonder why he has not spread his school to other cities and parts of India instead of continuing to spread through Lucknow. His life mission kind of reminded me of the bumper sticker, "coexist" with symbols for different religions. It seems like a good representation of it. I think that a huge step to peace in our world would be peace between religions. If the tension there was gone, then I think most everything else would fall into place.

This article is pretty amazing. This Ghandi guy is genius. I think his idea of educating these children of India is just purely genius. If you teach people things while they are young, they will grow into using the things they learned when they are young. By teaching these children that war and fighting is bad, they will learn that ending war and fighting is a good thing. Teaching children this tactic of not fighting is much more effective then telling adults not to fight or start wars because they will stick to their beliefs of war and fighting. Ghandi,as well as many leaders after him, all have something in common in their views-that is nonviolence. We dont need nuclear weapons to prove a point. A point is made in a way that people wiill rememeber. Do we want future generations to remember a era of warfare? Nuclear weapons? Jagadish is working to build up the education system so he can make these ideas of nonviolence know, as these are the people that will determine our future. Jagdish Gandhi is a perfect example of what we want, as a nation, a community, to promote for ourselves and future generations.

Question-How do you think we can prmote non-vioelnce in the U.S?
This article was interesting. At the very beginning of the article I thought the story would focus more on Jagdish Gandhi getting himself out of poverty, it was a pleasant surprise to find it was actually about him preaching peace. I have heard speakers talk about violence in relationships, romantic or at home, but I have never encountered a speaker on world peace. I find that strange considering it's a well-known concept. It is important that people are educated on the harsh immediate affects and repercussions of nuclear warfare so it is an admirable thing that Gandhi took it upon himself to talk about it. He is someone who is really thinking ahead to protect future generations.

I wish people in the United States were involved in this! Jagdish Gandhi has a true drive for what he believes. He understands that it is rough to solve these conflicts but he still wishes to do it with peace. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.” That quote hits the spot. Jagdish and MLK Jr are very much alike with their views of solving conflict. In sociology I have learned about the differnt religons. I do not agree with the hostilitly between them, but I have recognized the differences. I am very inspired by the children that Jagdish has taught. It shows that teenagers can easily be involved in what they are passionate about. I hope that Jagdish's view on conflict resolvement will spread throughout the world.

This article is great. It shows there is still good in the world. It also shows how innocent and pure the views of children are. According to the article, he knew he wanted to do this from age 12. At such a young age he simply knew what was right and decided that's what he should be doing. Also, when he asks the children about bombs and killing, they also show a pure and innocent view of life. It is great to see that children still believe in good, and that there are people out there to help them and build schools for them where they learn about peace, even in such a violent world. Lastly, the article shows the difference the hard work of one person can make. From a young age he has had a simple view, and he is now making a huge difference with his work and these schools. One question I have is is was Ghandi his sole inspiration, or did he have a dream before him too?

This article was a lovely bit about the power that teaching peace can do to the children and our future. Jagdish Ghandi is a wonderful person with a beautiful role model. Mahatma Ghandi was an amazing man who used the power of peace to fight off an oppressing government and give peoples rights back to them in which they originally deserved. We should all learn from example by these fine leaders. I wonder if there are any other people around the world like Jagdish that are trying to make a difference in the never ending cycle of poverty by teaching children about peace?
